Simplifying Remote Worker Onboarding: A Step-by-Step Guide

Introduction:

One of the most common concerns we hear from new clients, especially those with a workforce scattered across the UK, revolves around the challenge of onboarding remote devices. The thought of having to gather all these devices and physically send them to us can seem daunting. However, we’re here to tell you that it’s far from a headache. In fact, it’s quite the opposite – it’s straightforward and can be done entirely remotely. In this blog, we’ll walk you through the simple steps we take at Ingenio Technologies to make remote onboarding a breeze.

Step 1: Initiate Contact

The first step is quite personal – we call the end user directly. This initial contact is crucial as it sets the tone for our relationship and ensures the user feels supported throughout the process.

Step 2: Navigating to Support

Next, we ask them to visit ingenio.support. This is our dedicated support portal, designed to be user-friendly and easily accessible.

Step 3: Joining a Screen Sharing Session

Upon visiting our support site, the user is instructed to input a unique code. This code allows them to join an online screen sharing session with us, ensuring we can guide them through the next steps in real-time.

Step 4: Installing Remote Management Software

This is where the technical magic happens. We install our Remote Management and Monitoring (RMM) tool, ConnectWise Automate. This software is pivotal for us to efficiently manage and monitor their systems remotely.

Step 5: General Tidying

Once the RMM tool is in place, we perform some general housekeeping. This includes uninstalling any old antivirus software, removing tools from previous IT companies (if applicable), and installing Fortify for enhanced security – but only if the client has opted for this service.

Step 6: Disconnect

The final step is simply to disconnect from the session. The whole process takes around 15 minutes per user, but the impact is lasting.

Conclusion:

Remote onboarding doesn’t have to be a logistical nightmare. With the right tools and expertise, it can be a seamless, efficient process that sets the stage for a robust and secure IT environment. At Ingenio Technologies, we’re committed to solving business problems through technology and training, and our remote onboarding process is a prime example of this commitment in action.
